The Twin City Thunder didn’t let an early deficit deter them. The Thunder rallied to pick up a second straight victory with a 3-2 win over Islanders Hockey Club in a USPHL NCDC game at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn on Saturday.

The Thunder (15-14-2, 32 points) sit fifth in the North Division, one point back of the South Shore Kings (15-13-3, 33 points) for fourth. Islanders HC (11-18-3, 25 points) is last in the seven-team division.

Twin City scored twice on the power play.

Islanders HC opened the scoring with a power-play goal of their own, scored by Leo Piandes nearly eight minutes into the game.

Lewiston native Dom Chasse netted his fourth goal of the season, tying the game 1-1 later in the opening stanza.

Twin City scored on the man-advantage early in the second period when Trace Norwell potted his 17th tally of the season. Defenseman Martin Marnauzs notched the assist.

The power play continued to roll for the Thunder when defenseman Blake Tierney found the back of the net just past the eight-minute mark of the middle frame for a 3-1 lead. Nicholas Pomerleau and forward Richard Davis delivered the helpers.

Islanders HC got a goal back 13 minutes into the second period when Jesper Seeberg beat Thunder goalie Trey Miller. Piandes picked up an assist.

Miller stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced while Connor Strobel made 32 saves in the loss.
