100 Years Ago: 1923

Aged flappers put crimp in bobbed hair in New York. Bobbed hair must go, the National HairDressers Association, which will hold its third annual convention in this city Sept. 10 has decided the style was ruined when it was adopted by women over thirty. Present long skirts decreed for older women, do not harmonize trimmed locks because with hair also will be lifted from its twenty five year sojourn on the ears.

50 Years Ago: 1973

Several hundred dollars worth of windows were broken by rocks at the Fantastic Fair sometime over the weekend, Auburn police reported. The windows, measuring six by four feet, were located on the southerly side of the building.

25 Years Ago: 1998

Jim Cooke, actor and impersonator, will present a one-man show, “Calvin Coolidge Speaks,” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 2 and 7:30 pm. Friday at the Sawyer Memorial Building. The words and thoughts of “Silent Cal” cast shadows today as Cooke takes stage in ’20s costume and relates words of the 30th president.
