NORWAY — The third annual Foothills Food Festival will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, in Longley Square on Main Street.

Free and open to the public, the festival is billed as “A Celebration of Local Food.” It’s organized by Community Food Matters and sponsored by local businesses.

Among the features are local food vendors with everything from barbecue to vegetarian fare, a regional farmers’ market, educational workshops and activities for all ages. A beer-tasting garden with regional brewers and live music and entertainment in two locations are also planned.

Amanda Houtari from Celebration Barn in Paris will be the festival emcee.

Advance sale of beer-tasting passes is available through the festival website for a discount compared to the day of the event.

Anna Heath is volunteer coordinator. She’s encouraging people to sign up at foothillsfoodfestival.org.

The festival is striving to be a zero-waste event with the use of biodegradable containers and utensils, composting of all food waste, and no single-use plastic. Coordinators are currently seeking additional volunteers to help with maintaining the zero-waste stations, along with set-up and cleanup.

Food vouchers will be awarded to volunteers on festival day, along with a volunteer T-shirt. An orientation session will be held Aug. 3 at the Alan Day Community Garden.
