FAIRFIELD — Leavitt rallied for three runs in the third frame and managed to hang on for a 6-5 victory over Lawrence in a hard-fought softball tilt Friday.

Emily Swan led the Hornets with three hits, including a double, while Leah Maheux belted out a pair of hits.

The Bulldogs were paced by Haley Holt with two singles and three RBIs.

Oak Hill 15, Mountain Valley 1

WALES — Sadie Waterman’s stellar 2018 season rolled on Friday, this time with a three-hit, five-inning performance that once again drew ample run support and resulted in a 15-1 rout over Mountain Valley.

Kaitlyn Ridley led a well-balanced effort from the Raiders (6-1) with three hits and two RBIs, while Abby Nadeau drove in three runs on two hits. Mikayla Buckmore also contributed with two hits and one RBI.

Saydie Garbarini gave up 12 hits for the Falcons (0-5), as Oak Hill’s bats were hot.

Dirigo 8, Wiscasset 5

WISCASSET — Sophia Jacques had a double and a triple while driving in two runs as Dirigo defeated Wiscasset 8-5 in an MVC softball contest Friday.

Lillie Williams had two singles and also drove home two runs for the Cougars (2-4). Victoria Averill and Ashley Perreault each had an RBI in the victory.

Corey Campbell had the Wolverines’ (1-5) lone hit.

Each team scored three runs in its of the third inning, and then each had one run in the fifth and sixth innings. Dirigo scored three more times in the top half of the seventh.

Fryeburg 5, Gray-New Gloucester 3

GRAY — Fryeburg Academy was able to manufacture some runs Friday afternoon en route to a 5-3 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in a WMC softball contest.

In the top of the third, the Raiders scored twice on a misjudged pop up between the the third base and shortstop. The following inning they scored twice more on a fielder’s choice.

Tina LeBlanc had a double in the seventh and later scored for Fryeburg (4-2).

Lydia Espling had an RBI double for the Patriots in the bottom of the sixth, and finished the game with two hits. Mikaela Ryan also had a pair of hits for Gray-New Gloucester (4-3).

Edward Little 9, Cony 6

AUGUSTA — Emmy Lashua led off the game with a first-pitch home run, and smacked a second homer in the sixth as Edward Little dispatched Cony 9-6 in softball action Friday afternoon.

The Rams (1-4) rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning for a brief 5-4 lead.

The game was tied 6-6 when the Red Eddies (4-3) came to the plate in the top of the seventh.

Chantel Ouellette, the Eddies’ starting pitcher, reached on an error and scored from second on an RBI single by Anna LeBlanc. Before the inning was over relief pitcher Hannah Smith helped herself notch the win with a two-run home run of her own.

Lashua compiled three hits, four RBIs, a walk and two runs scored for Edward Little.

Lisbon 17, Telstar 6

LISBON — Sophomore Kiley Merritt went 4-for-5 with a double to lead Lisbon to a 17-6 victory over Telstar in softball action Friday afternoon.

The Greyhounds (3-1) bolted into the lead with an eight-run sixth inning. Ivy Morris roped a triple and went 3-for-5 for Lisbon.

The Rebels (2-2) took a 2-0 lead in the first, and went ahead again in the third inning, (6-5) with another four runs. But that is where their scoring concluded.

Sophomore Aneah Bartlett went 3-for-4 with a double for Telstar.

Junior pitcher Sydney Plourde struck out one and walked four in the winning effort for Lisbon.

Baseball

Lisbon 7, Telstar 1

LISBON — A series of errors in the seventh inning allowed Lisbon to plate four runs and seal a 7-1 victory over Telstar in a baseball tilt Friday. 

Of the Greyhounds’ total runs, five reached base on errors and one reached base by a hit batter. Zack Hill threw nine strikeouts and walked one in a no-hitter. 

Lisbon led 3-1 after six innings, having scored a run in each of the first three frames. 

Monmouth 5, Spruce Mountain 1

MONMOUTH — Avery Pomerleau ignited a two-run third-inning rally as Monmouth rolled to a 5-1 baseball victory over Spruce Mountain. 

Pomerleau ripped an RBI triple for the Mustangs (3-2) to give them a 3-0 advantage. Trevor Flanagan led Monmouth with two hits and two RBIs, while Corey Armstrong also pounded out a pair of hits. 

Landon Brochu and Jordy Daigle led the Phoenix (2-3) with two hits apiece. 

Edward Little 10, Cony 6

AUGUSTA — Edward Little erupted for eight runs in the third inning Friday and went on to post a 10-6 baseball victory over Cony. 

Ben Cassidy stepped in to fill a hole created by Grant Hartley’s absence, and did so in fine fashion. Cassidy smacked a two-run home run in the third inning, and had two sacrifice flies, as well. 

Riley Geyer suffered the loss after working the first three frames. 

Dirigo 14, Wiscasset 1

WISCASSET — Jacob Gaudin scattered three hits and drew ample run support as Dirigo shut down Wiscasset 14-1 in Mountain Valley Conference baseball action Friday.

Gaudin’s win was the first of his high school career.

Freshman sensation Jacob York ignited a big five-run second inning with a well-timed two-run single.

Ron Drake led the winless Wolverines (0-6) with a double.

St. Dom’s 4, Boothbay 2

AUBURN — Derick Wolverton singled in Michel Cilley in the third inning for the eventual game-winning run as St. Dom’s grabbed a 4-2 outcome in baseball action Friday afternoon.

Saints (2-2) junior right fielder Ben Gosselin singled and scored on Cilley’s RBI double in the third inning before Cilley scored on Wolverton’s hit.

In a late inning effort, the Seagulls (3-3) got some offensive production from Cody Blanchette with an RBI single. But the 4-0 deficit was too much to overcome.

Fryeburg 7, Gray-New Gloucester 6

GRAY — Dawson Jones smacked an RBI double in the top of the seventh to tie the game, and later scored on a wildly thrown pick-off attempt to lift Fryeburg to a 7-6 victory over Gray-New Gloucester in baseball action Friday afternoon.

The Raiders (3-2) led off with a three-run first inning, but gave up four in the bottom of the frame, and trailed 6-3 by the fifth inning. Picking up two runs in the fifth put them into position for the seventh inning rally.

Tucker Buttell tripled before being plated by Jones’ double in the seventh.

Cam Andrews singled in two runs in the first inning for the Patriots (2-3). Nick McCann had an RBI double in the fourth.

Girls’ lacrosse

Bonny Eagle 15, Edward Little 10

AUBURN — Keelin Sweeney led a group of eight players to record goals Friday as Bonny Eagle hustled to a 15-10 girls’ lacrosse win over Edward Little. 

Sweeney finished with four goals for the Scots (1-4), while Kaley Rummery and Allie Caipine each scored three goals. Single tallies by Olivia Macisaac, Jenna Litif, Lexi Therberg, Linday Frazier and Gretchen Bengle completed the scoring. 

Piper Norcross led the Red Eddies (1-1) with four goals and two assists, while Sierra Green, Megan Steele and Lydia Celani each scored two goals.

Sam Dery made eight saves for Bonny Eagle, while Erin Anderson turned aside 17 shots for Edward Little. 

Boys’ lacrosse

Windham 18, Edward Little 7

STANDISH — Travis Brown netted six goals and had one assist as Windham sailed to an 18-7 victory over Edward Little in boys’ lacrosse action Friday afternoon.

The Eagles (3-1) surged out to a 10-5 second-quarter lead, and never looked back. Tyler Woolsten contributed four goals and an assist for Windham.

The Red Eddies (2-3) were paced by Spencer Frahn with four goals and an assist.

Goallie Gunner Winslow made 13 saves for Edward Little, while Ben Elliot prevented eight to earn the win in net for Windham.
