Number of sports officials dwindling to crisis level, but Alfond center seeks to train next generation in Waterville area
Alfond Youth & Community Center hosted a clinic Saturday to help bolster the ranks of local baseball and softball umpires. Leaders say there is a national shortage of sports officials caused by their poor treatment at the hands of coaches, parents and fans.
