AUBURN — An Auburn man accused of sexually abusing a boy over a three-year period was one of several people indicted by an Androscoggin County grand jury Tuesday on sex crimes.
Joseph Poulin, 48, of Riverside Drive was indicted on three counts of unlawful sexual contact. Investigators said the boy was younger than 12 years old when Poulin began sexually touching him.
Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Detective Thomas Slivinski wrote in his affidavit that Poulin sexually abused the boy sometimes while the boy was in bed.
The boy had met with a specially trained forensic interviewer at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties where he disclosed the abuse after notifying his parents. He first told a 12-year-old friend at school, who had encouraged him to tell his parents about the abuse, according to Slivinski’s affidavit.
Poulin has since been released on $5,000 bail.
Also indicted Tuesday was 32-year-old Jeffrey Cressey, who is accused of sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl in December. He was indicted on three counts of unlawful sexual contact.
In court documents, police said Cressey placed his hands inside the pants of the girl the night of Dec. 3 after the girl’s father left the room to get food. The abuse was discovered, police said, after the girl’s father brought her to the emergency room.
Cressey was arrested Jan. 25 and has remained jailed since. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday to answer the charges.
The grand jury, which rose Tuesday, also indicted David Paul Hunt Jr., 36, of Taunton, Massachusetts, on two counts of gross sexual assault and two counts of unlawful sexual assault.
Hunt is accused of sexually abusing a girl younger than 12 years old in April, May and June of 2009. He has been issued a summons to appear in court.
Edison Delacruz, 32, of Lewiston, was indicted on two counts of unlawful sexual contact and two counts of unlawful sexual touching. He is accused of sexually abusing a girl younger than 12 years old on Dec. 9 in Lewiston. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Alexander Nappe, 23, of Lisbon, was also indicted Tuesday on two counts of unlawful sexual contact and two counts of unlawful sexual touching. He is accused of sexually abusing a girl younger than 14 years old on June 25 in Lisbon.
Nappe is expected to appear in court Friday to answer the charges.
