LEWISTON — Baxter Brewing will host an intimate five-course, white-linen beer brunch Saturday, Aug. 6, to benefit the Dempsey Center.
“Oftentimes you hear about beer dinners, but we were after a slower-paced meal where folks can savor and better appreciate the beer pairings which will be led by our brewers and the chef of each restaurant involved,” Baxter Marketing Manager Adrienne Beaulieu said.
Tickets for the meal were $45 each and sold out early. The brunch will be hosted at the brewery at 11 a.m. at 130 Mill St. in a newly renovated outdoor space. “We purposely maxed ticket sales at 36 people to create a family-style, intimate brunch setting,” Beaulieu said.
Marche, Fire House Grille, She Doesn’t Like Guthries, Fish Bones American Grill and the Italian Bakery will each provide a course, paired with exclusive, small-batch beers brewed at Baxter.
”Our new director of brewing, Andrew Sheffield, has brewed unique, non-commercial beers for each of the five courses that will be featured for the brunch,” Beaulieu said, “two of which will be a beer cocktail: beermosa, which is exactly as it sounds and a Bloody Mary featuring a session ale instead of vodka.”
The beers will be paired with food including artisan breakfast meats, German fries, a Borealis bread sandwich, sweet potato waffles and fruit tarts.
All proceeds from the Beer Brunch will be donated to the Dempsey Center. Baxter Brewing has been a sponsor of the Dempsey Challenge for the past three years.
“It is one of our most favorite events to sponsor as we get to see our community come together for an emotionally charged, inspirational weekend,” Beaulieu said. “Each year, leading up to the challenge, we host and plan various events to raise money for the Dempsey Center, and we knew right away we wanted to host a brunch for this year’s event.”
