Lewiston needs more stores similar to Reny’s, Levinsky, the Christmas Tree Shop and others. It would help the city if the owner of the mall would lower the rent for space there.
A city councilor said that Lewiston is an attractive community. I don’t believe that most people see it that way. I have lived in Lewiston all my life and for the past 20 years, now is the worst I have ever seen it. Roads are in such poor shape all over the city that it is ridiculous. There are gangs, drugs and deadbeats walking in the streets.
Lewiston has seen better days, and the problems need to be fixed, including the problem of Lewiston being an out-of-control welfare city.
Lewiston needs a big face lift. The city is going downhill, and fast. It needs to be cleaned up. Soon.
Reggie Bechard, Lewiston

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
