LISBON — Cooper Chiasson hurled seven innings of three-hit baseball on Wednesday as Dirigo upset Lisbon 3-0 in a late-season baseball tilt.

Luke Lueders led the Cougars (6-7) with two hits and one run scored, while Bryce Whittemore also belted out two hits.

Tyler Halls gave up two unearned runs for the Greyhounds (10-4) to suffer the loss.

Mountain Valley 10, Boothbay 5

RUMFORD — After building a five-run advantage in the first three innings, Mountain Valley kept its foot on the gas until the end and came away with a 10-5 win over Boothbay in a late-season baseball tilt Wednesday.

Fischer Cormier led the Falcons (8-4) with three hits and two RBIs.

Carter Babcock, Cam Crocker and Noah Sherburne led the Seahawks (2-8) with three hits each, while reliever Grant Giles suffered the loss.

Lewiston 6, Hampden 0

HAMPDEN — Hunter Landry scattered five hits and drew adequate run support on Wednesday as Lewiston cruised to a 6-0 baseball win over Hampden.

Eddie Turgeon led the Blue Devils (9-6) with three hits and four RBIs, while Evan Cox and Landry also pounded out a pair of hits.

Casey Sudbeck suffered the loss for Hampden (10-5) after working the first four frames.

Spruce Mountain 6, Maranacook 4

READFIELD — Trailing by four, Spruce Mountain rallied for six runs in the seventh to steal a victory from Maranacook in baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

With one out, senior first baseman Nate Goodine manufactured a sacrifice fly to plate the fifth Phoenix (10-4) run and eventual game-winner.

Senior pitcher Austin Gilboe produced three hits and two RBIs for Spruce Mountain.

Junior pitcher Dan Garand had six strong innings before tiring, struking out five for the Black Bears (4-9) in the losing effort.

Edward Little 2, Mt. Ararat 1

TOPSHAM — Senior pitcher Jarod Norcross Plourde fanned nine battters in six innings on the mound as Edward Little edged Mt. Ararat 2-1 in baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Eddies (12-3) took advantage of two hit batters and two walks for a pair of runs in the first inning. Senior CJ Jipson came on in relief in the seventh inning to pick up the save for Edward Little.

Junior second baseman Garrett Moody scored the Eagles’ (6-7) only run in the sixth inning in the losing effort.

Monmouth 5, Mt. Abram 2

MONMOUTH — Sophomore relief pitcher Trevor Flanagan tossed 4 1/3 innings and set down eight batters as Monmouth earned a 5-2 victory over Mt. Abram in baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Mustangs (9-4) turned up the offense in the middle innings. Junior designated hitter Bradley Neal had singles in the fourth and fifth inning.

Junior pitcher Sean Allen had a no-hitter going into the fourth inning for the Roadrunners (0-12-1) until Monmouth scattered several hits to collect four runs over the next three innings.

York 2, Poland 0

POLAND — Junior Timothy MacDonald mustered three hits and an RBI to lead York to a 2-0 victory over Poland in baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

Senior pitcher Trevor LaBonte pitched a complete game win with 11 strikeouts for the Wildcats (11-3).

Senior Noah Salmons also tossed a complete game, but gave up 11 hits while fanning four batters for the Knights (3-11) in the losing effort.

Girls’ lacrosse

St. Dom’s 17, Fryeburg 2

AUBURN — Caroline Gastonguay led a group of four players to register hat tricks on Wednesday as St. Dom’s hustled to a 17-2 victory over Fryeburg in a girls’ lacrosse matchup.

Mia-Angelina Leslie, Emma Theriault and Rileigh Stebbins also netted three goals for the Saints. Kristina Cornelio and Avery Lutrzykowski each netted a pair of goals, while a single tally from Eisa Lee completed the scoring.

Simone Long made five saves for the Saints.

Lewiston 17, Oxford Hills 2

PARIS — Sasha Leclair netted four goals and dished off an assist to lead Lewiston to a 17-2 rout over Oxford Hills in a late-season girls’ lacrosse tilt Wednesday.

Christine Chasse and Morgan Eliasen chipped in for the Blue Devils (7-3) with two goals each, while Shaima Naji, Mardie Alberica, Julia St. Laurent, Erin Lachance and Dacia Ball also tallied to complete the scoring.

The Vikings (0-8) received one goal each from Arianna Greene and Megan Godbout. Cece Racine made four saves for Lewiston, while Anna Huff turned aside nine shots between the posts for Oxford Hills.

Softball

Gardiner 2, Leavitt 1 (8 inn.)

TURNER — Jillian Bisson belted an RBI single in the eighth inning to give Gardiner a 2-1 victory over Leavitt in a hard-fought late-season siftball tilt on Wednesday.

The Hornets took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Mackenzie Treadwell scored on a sacrifice fly after reaching base with a triple. The Tigers (13-1) tied the contest in the top of the seventh when Brooke Somes singled off the third baseman’s glove and drove in Sydney Bartunek.

Bisson struck out three en route to the win, while Abby Robertson suffered the loss.

Lewiston 10, Hampden 3

LEWISTON — Megan Theriault scattered nine hits and drew ample run support as Lewiston rolled to a 10-3 softball win over Hampden in a late-season tilt on Wednesday.

Meagan Gosselin and Kali Voss led the Blue Devils (11-4) with three hits and two RBIs each, while Kallie May drove in a pair of runs.

Emily Dysart went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Hampden, while Emilee Pinkham and Becca Cyr also belted out singles.

Monmouth 18, Mt. Abram 1

MONMOUTH — Mariah Herr gave up just two hits in five innings as powerhouse Monmouth rolled to an 18-1 softball victory over Mt. Abram on Wednesday.

Haylee Langlois put in a career-best effort to lead the mighty Mustangs (11-3), pounding out four hits (including two tiples and a double) and driving in nine runs. Emily Chasse and Julia Johnson also contributed with two hits apiece, while Hannah Anderson belted an RBI double.

Summer Ross went the distance for the Roadrunners (1-12).

Mountain Valley 22, Boothbay 1

RUMFORD — Senior third baseman Jordan Duguay compiled five hits and five RBIs to power Mountain Valley to a 22-1 victory over Bootbhay in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Falcons (5-7) ripped 11 runs in the bottom of the second inning for a 13-1 lead. Senior pitcher Abby Mazza crossed the plate five times, following a pair of doubles, two walks and a fielders choice for Mountain Valley.

Junior centerfielder Emily Amaral had the only hit for the Seahawks, singling in the only Boothbay run in the second inning in the losing effort.

Poland 16, York 1

POLAND — Shelby LaFrinea and Morgan Brousseau each contributed three hits as Poland dispatched York 16-1 in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Knights (6-8) scored 10 runs in the first two innings and led 16-1 after four for a five-inning abridged contest.

Abigail Orso posted a triple for the Wildcats (4-9) in the losing effort.

Lisbon 21, Dirigo 4

DIXFIELD — Brittany Norman scattered four hits as Lisbon dashed to a 21-4 victory over Dirigo in softball action Wednesday afternoon.

The Greyhounds (10-4) jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the first inning and posted six in each of the fourth and fifth. Mallory Fairbanks chipped in with two doubles for Lisbon.

The Cougars (2-13) only trailed 10-7 in hits. Katie Morse had a pair of singles for Dirigo in the losing effort.
