AUBURN — Health Affiliates Maine (HAM) launched the Inaugural ‘Strike Out the Stigma’ Co-Ed Softball Tournament in support of raising funds and mental health awareness for National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Maine. Thetournament took place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Lakeview Fields in Auburn.
All proceeds from this event totaled over $1,700, and will assist NAMI Maine with their mission to provide support, education and advocacy in building better lives for one in four Mainers who are affected by mental illness.
“We are committed to our partnership with NAMI Maine, and pleased with the level of interest and participation with this event,” said Andrea Krebs, the Executive Director of HAM. “This event meant a lot to our staff and their efforts are appreciated.”
Ben Fortier of Electricity Maine and Tammy Fecteau of Health Affiliates Maine were instrumental in coordinating this event. Participants included employees from Health Affiliates Maine, their family and friends, and local area municipal recreation departments from Auburn, Lewiston, Mechanic Falls and Augusta.
Health Affiliates Maine will continue it’s efforts to support NAMI Maine by taking part in the Maine Walk on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse in South Portland.
