A former Androscoggin County assistant district attorney was appointed Tuesday to serve as a Maine District Court judge.

of West Bath was named by Gov. Paul LePage to the bench, along with two other practicing lawyers.

Cashman works as a homicide prosecutor in the Office of the Attorney General. In her role as assistant attorney general, she was successful in two recent murder trials in Androscoggin County Superior Court in Auburn where juries returned guilty verdicts. She has prosecuted homicide cases throughout the state.

After leaving the Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted sexual assault cases, Cashman served as an assistant district attorney in Sagadahoc and Lincoln counties. She also has practiced in the private sector at the Law Office of Deborah L. Potter, concentrating in the areas of criminal and family law. She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and the University of Maine School of Law.

LePage also nominated attorney Harold Stewart II of Presque Isle to serve as a Maine Superior Court justice and attorney Patrick Larson of Bangor to serve as a judge in Maine District Court, according to a news release from the Office of the Governor.

Allen Hunter of Caribou was nominated by LePage to serve as an active-retired justice in the Maine Superior Court and E. Paul Eggert of Portland and Keith Powers of Cape Elizabeth are nominated to serve as active-retired judges in Maine District Court.
