Every year my husband likes to decorate the house for Halloween and Christmas, his two favorite holidays. He does it for the kids.
Two years ago we had Halloween decorations stolen. I had to talk him into decorating again; it was upsetting to both of us. We decided to decorate, but to downsize.
This year we did the same for Christmas. We had a Christmas tree that my father-in-law made me before he died. We put it out every year.
It wasn’t anything expensive. It was a round disk with a simple pole illuminated with colorful lights and a star. It was something special to us. It was the last thing he made me before he passed and the only thing I had left reminding me of him. It was a part of his memory that I could share with others.
Needless to say, someone stole it the day before Christmas.
I hope whoever has it is not only enjoying the tree but also enjoying the heartache they have caused my husband and I.
There will be no more decorating here any more.
Sorry to the kids who used to stop and look at our lights.
