DIXFIELD — Kelsey Hutchins cracked three hits, including a double, as Dirigo edged Lisbon 9-8 in extra innings in MVC softball action Monday afternoon.
The Cougars pounced for a five-run sixth inning and held on for the one-point edge. Lisbon managed to score four runs in the top of the frame.
Kallyn Hill was the ninth batter in the lineup for the Greyhounds. But she smashed a grand slam to put Lisbon up 7-3 in the top of the sixth inning.
Leavitt 14, Mt. View 4
TURNER — Junior first baseman Kaitlynn DeBlois launched a pair of home runs to power Leavitt to a 14-4 triumph over Mt. View in KVAC softball action Monday afternoon.
The Hornets (6-2) scored five runs in the first inning and four in the fifth. DeBlois plated three runs with each of her home runs.
Freshman short stop Kassie Murch blasted three hits, including a double in her first high school game for Leavitt.
Junior center fielder Ryleigh Lord recorded two hits and two RBI’s for the Mustangs (2-6) in the losing effort.
Edward Little 7, Lawrence 1
AUBURN — Taylor Depot had a two run triple to lead the Edward Little Red Eddies to the 7-1 victory over the Lawrence Bulldogs.
Depot also had another hit and finished the game with 4 RBIs. Calli Murray had a triple for EL (5-3). The Red Eddies picked up three runs in the bottom of the third and fourth.
Katie Lindsay had the Bulldogs lone RBI as she smacked a double in the top fourth. Sydney Knowlton also had a double.
Oak Hill 8, Winthrop 0
WINTHROP — Mikayla Nadeau scattered three hits and struck out 11 Monday afternoon as Oak Hill shut down Winthrop 8-0 in an MVC softball matchup.
Sadie Goulet led the Raiders (5-3) with two hits and three RBIs, while Kayla Veilleux belted out two hits and plated one run. Grace Sabine also contributed with a pair of hits.
Ashley Dunham suffered the loss after going the distance for Winthrop.
Oxford Hills 3, Lewiston 2
PARIS — Erin Morton pulled off a successful suicide squeeze to score Cody Akers in the sixth inning as Oxford Hills hung on for a 3-2 KVAC victory over Lewiston Monday.
The game was tied after three innings before the Vikings (8-1) took command in the fourth.
Erika Whitman scattered three hits in six innings to pick up the win. Megan Thibodeau suffered the loss after working the first six frames for Lewiston.
Mt. Abram 3, Mountain Valley 2
RUMFORD — Mt. Abram picked up the go-ahead run on a walk Monday and was fortunate enough to pull off a 3-2 victory over Mountain Valley in more MVC softball action.
Kate Jordan scattered six hits and helped her own cause with three hits and one RBI for the Roadrunners.
The Falcons (2-5) were paced by Kelli Trenoweth with a triple, while Sidney Petrie, Abby Mazza and Sam Higley all betled doubles.
Spruce Mountain 4, Erskine 2
JAY — Alex Bessey led a trio of players with multiple hits as Spruce Mountain hustled to a 4-2 win over Erskine.
Grace Ryan led the Phoenix (3-5) with two hits and two RBIs, while Alex Bessey and Kailee Newcomb also pounded out a pair of hits.
Erskine was paced by Allison Bond and pitcher Torri McLaggan with two hits apiece.
Poland 2, Wells 1
POLAND — Kylie Martin struck out nine batters in seven innings of work Monday as Poland edged Wells 2-1 in a WMC softball tilt.
Haley Whitworth and Kelsey DeBurra led the Knights (7-2) with two hits and one RBI apiece.
Maddie Taylor led the way for Wells with two hits in the contest.
Monmouth 12, St. Dom’s 0
MONMOUTH — Emily Chasse hurled a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks as Monmouth put on a clinic for St. Dom’s, 12-0, in more MVC softball action Monday.
Hannah Anderson and Rhiannon Dumond led the Mustangs (4-4) with two-run singles, while Madi Neal belted a double.
Allie Veinote suffered the loss after a full-game effort.
