Riverview Dental/The Cage captured the Auburn Rec Upper League Softball title with a thrilling 8-7 victory over Turn Key Homes/Varney Agency under the lights at Pettengil Park. The Riverview offense was led by Zack Timmermeyer, Luke Cote and Greg Labonte — with each player walloping timely homer uns. Cote and second baseman David Cusson also turned four double plays to stifle Turn Key rallies. Winning pitcher Mike Dyer also helped his cause, hitting a key two-run double. Riverview finished the season with a league best 18-1 record, capturing both the regular season and playoff crowns. Riverview’s success followed a second place finish in this year’s Maine State ASA Class E tournament last July in Augusta. Members of the team are, front row from left: Toby Tiner, Jr., Like Cote, Mike and Peyton Dyer, David Cusson, General Ray Berube and Drew Tiner; Back row, from left: Zack Timmermeyer, Matt Bowen, Greg Labonte, Jeff Keene, Nate Berube, Bob Bennett and Mike Mills. Absent from the phooto: Rod Mercier, Joe Dumont and Kyle Bussiere.
