In a cell at the Auburn police headquarters, two boys are held on the complaint of a Lewiston woman who accuses them of having misappropriated one rowboat. The woman had the boat moored on the Lewiston shore of the river near her home. It was taken and later found upon the Auburn shore. Suspicion was directed against the two boys. As told Friday noon, the woman desires to prosecute the boys, but her husband disagrees with her as to such action. The boys say that they moored the boat, but that it got adrift.

Stones come from as far away as Africa for the Collette family on Sabattus Street, Lewiston, where, since 1971, they have created ornate monuments in granite. Using a small knife to cut the rubber template with the design over the stone face, a flower, cross or sometimes a whole scene is created in relief before the sandblasting. Hoses of different sizes send a stream of aluminum oxide or titanium oxide under high pressure at the stone to make the engraving.
