Kay is an expert in chit-chatting with a degree from the Arthur L. Carter School of Journalism at New York University. Kay joined Masthead Maine as a reporter for The Franklin Journal and Livermore Falls Advertiser in 2021. She joined the Press Herald business team in March of 2023.

RSU 9 community debates gender-identity poster
Thirty people addressed the Regional School Unit 9 Board of Directors during meeting Tuesday, Sept. 13, to discuss a poster hanging at Mt. Blue High and Middle schools called “Gender 101.” People during public comment showed support for the poster, while others called for its removal. For now, Superintendent Chris Elkington has determined in a review the poster will stay in place.

United Way launches car repair program
United Way of the Tri-Valley Area Director of Marketing and Communications Nichole Ernest said the “Don’t Despair Car Repair Program,” which is funding up to $1,000 in car repairs for local participants, is a part of the organization’s strategic goal to address regional issues around transportation.
