Cal Thomas: The unmentioned issue in this campaign
“Debt is the worst poverty.” — Thomas Fuller, 17th-century English churchman and historian No reporter asks about it. The candidates don’t talk about it. Are voters even concerned about it? The unmentioned “it” is the national debt, which days ago reached $27 trillion and continues to grow like an untreated tumor on the economic body […]

Glenn Chateauvert: Questioning Gideon’s courage
During the recent strike at Bath Iron Works, Sara Gideon showed up to make a couple of speeches and have a photo op with some of the union bosses. When she was questioned by Local 6 union members on the picket line, she talked around their questions and went and hid in the union hall. […]

Peter Zanoni: Trump has trumped mask doubters

All through […]

Richard Bean: Vote Cole for Oxford commissioner
I was glad to see that Scott Cole is running for Oxford County commissioner. As our Bethel town manager for many years, he was smart, courteous, and responsive. I am definitely voting for him, as I am sure he will do fine as a commissioner. Years ago, following a town-wide property revaluation in Bethel, I […]
