Peter Navarro: Trump’s trade policies work for Maine’s workers
The “all job creation is local” policy strategy sets the Trump team apart from past administrations. Under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, Maine’s dairy farmers can sell more to Canadian markets than they ever have before. Maine loggers will benefit from USMCA provisions to combat trade in illegal logging by poachers. Antidumping and countervailing duties have […]

Darryl Wood: Black, Landry have earned another term
At a time when negative campaign ads are the norm, and Democrats and Republicans are fighting like cats and dogs, it is refreshing to have such an array of candidates in Franklin County who are willing to rise above the fray, work together and really listen to their constituents. It is nice to have choices […]

Fred Brodeur: Melaragno deserves voters’ ‘full support’
If you are earning $12 per hour rather than $7.50, thank Gina Melaragno for her leadership in raising Maine’s minimum wage. Gina is a working person’s best friend. Her leadership was recognized by the Maine AFL-CIO for this work. She worked to bring her bill to a referendum, where Maine people voted to make it […]

Maggy Wyckoff: Vote Hastings for Franklin County sheriff
I am writing in strong support of Eddie Hastings for Franklin County sheriff. For the past almost 40 years I have observed him evolve from a youngster to a seasoned professional. He is clearly dedicated to the people of our region — showing talent, tenacity, innovation, and creativity, not only as a firefighter but also, […]

Gil Arsenault and Kay Herbert: Shame on Sen. Collins
Reasons we urge voters to remove Susan Collins from office: She supported the 2017 Tax Act, benefiting corporations while threatening Social Security and Medicare; She voted to confirm the president’s judicial nominees despite their lack of qualifications, and most notably for Brett Kavanaugh, who clearly demonstrated lack of integrity and emotional stability during his hearing; […]
