Thelma Beauvais: Elect Libby to House District 64
I have been working with Laurel Libby since the beginning of her campaign. I cannot believe the energy she brings forth every day, searching for new ways to resolve the issues we face as a state and the barriers that stand in our way. She is tireless in her focus to get information out so […]

Whitney and Bruce Condit: Claxton a ‘tireless advocate’ for Auburn
We are so grateful that Ned Claxton is again running for state Senate in District 20. We are most impressed with his integrity, his ability to listen, and his dedication to collaboration — all qualities that we value highly, yet seem so rare in today’s politics. Ned has supported increased state funding for our schools, […]

Eric and Stacey Whittington: Jim Handy ‘a true representative’
In this day and age, when so many elections are focused on keeping people divided, Rep. Jim Handy has shown time and time again that he is comfortable working with Democrats, Republicans and independents alike to pass legislation that helps to make life easier for all his constituents. For example, he sponsored legislation to fund […]

Lee Umphrey and Doug Dunbar: Instilling hope, creating new opportunities through connections
COVID-19 has upended our lives. We’ve been confronted by unpleasant realities and faced with unexpected challenges. In our communities, long-standing social problems have grown worse. Edward Walworth: Sickness rather than health
I have many problems with Donald Trump, but as a physician I would like to focus on his effect on our health over the last four years. He has tried to eliminate the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) without producing any replacement. He distrusts medical expertise. His disregard for science imperiled his own health and has […]

Dave Griffiths: Trump has failed to protect public
By now, most of us (many Fox viewers excluded?) know that our president is a shameless serial liar, an unpatriotic faux tough guy who dodged the draft four times and called people who served in Vietnam “suckers,” and the most corrupt politician in decades whose ethics-challenged family is profiting off his “public service” (and they […]

Ralph Fletcher: Sen. Claxton an easy choice for reelection
I write on behalf of my longtime friend, Ned Claxton, who is running for reelection in Maine Senate District 20. Ned has worked on bills supporting property tax relief, patient protection from abusive billing practices and benefits for veterans. As a former small business owner and physician, he invoked a deep understanding of the complexities […]

Leonard Pitts Jr.: ‘I’m here to endorse a candidate’
Allow me, please, a point of personal privilege. Folks keep telling me how easy Donald Trump has made my job. For four years, I’ve had these discussions where we ruminate on the singular awfulness of that man and then the other person says, by way of consolation, “At least you never have to worry about […]

Richard Grover: New tech could reduce carbon emissions
The Oct. 6 issue of “The Washington Examiner” magazine contains a provocative editorial that suggests new technology may soon be available which could use fusion energy to generate vast amounts of energy within a few years. If successful, new nuclear fusion reactors could provide carbon-free energy in massive amounts which could eventually bring man-made carbon […]
