JAY — The Select Board will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Monday at the Spruce Mountain Elementary School gym on a proposed $5.28 million budget for 2021-22.

Residents are scheduled to vote on the proposal and elect three selectpersons, two directors for the Regional School Unit 73 board, and a trustee candidate for each of the two water districts. The water districts are not part of the municipal government.

Polls will be open April 27.

The budget proposal is $12,800 less than for 2020-21. After factoring in an estimated $2 million in revenue, the net municipal budget would be about $3.21 million. It represents a decrease of $7,274, or 0.22% from this fiscal year, which ends June 30. This does not include the town’s share of the Regional School Unit 73 or Franklin County budgets.

Jay has one contested race for a one-year selectperson’s term to finish Judy Diaz’s term. She moved out of town in November 2020. Lee Ann Dalessandro and Randy Richards will vie for the seat.

Terry Bergeron and Tom Goding are each seeking reelection to a three-year term on the board. They are unopposed.

Joel Pike and Mike Morrell are also each seeking reelection to a three-year term on the RSU 73 board. They are uncontested for their seats.

George Merrill is uncontested for another three-year term as a trustee on the Jay Village Water District. No one took out papers for a three-year term held by Roger Couture, who did not seek reelection to the board.
