Volunteer dinner
RUMFORD — The Oxford County Democrats will hold a volunteer recognition dinner on Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Eagles Hall, Oxford Avenue. Snow date is Thursday, Jan. 27.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will feature a chicken dinner. Volunteers in the 2010 campaign will be the guests of the Oxford County Democrats, and others who would like to attend will be charged $7 a person. Following the dinner and remarks by Democratic office-holders, election will be held for Oxford County Democratic Committee officers for 2011-2012. Officers to be elected include chair, vice chair, secretary and treasurer. Volunteers will be sought for the Program and Finance Committees.

Potluck supper
WATERFORD — The Wilkins Community House, Waterford Flat, will hold a community potluck supper at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20. All are welcome.
The hosts will be Ginny and Denny Raymond and Meg Wheeler. Those attending are invited to bring a friend and a dish to share.
Suppers start
WEST PARIS — Community potluck suppers are starting again at the First Universalist Church, Main Street, at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21. There is no charge, but bring a dish to share. Those attending do not have to be a member of the church.
Bridge play
WATERFORD — The Waterford Library is sponsoring an informal bridge group that meets the fourth Monday of the month at the library. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24.
No partner is necessary, and players with a basic knowledge of bridge are welcome. The goal is to have fun and learn from each other. For more information, call 583-2729.
Making puppets
NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library will hold a puppet-making workshop from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25. Participants will make two types of puppets, one sock and one paper bag. Children should bring a sock.
Following the puppet-making they will act out a short skit using the new props. Parents are invited to attend at 4:30 to watch the performance.

Bridge winners
OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Jan. 14 in the recreation building, King Street. A six-table Howell movement was played.
Flight A winners were Pete Cummings and Dick Allen; second, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer, who also were first in flight B; third, Diane and Jim Fallon, who also were second in flight B and first in flight C; third, flight B, Milt McKeen and Jim Krainin, who also were second in flight C; third, flight C, Carol Curran and Barbara Vanderzanden.
