Last week’s results:

Asked to predict whether it would snow on Christmas, Stormy indicated it would, the Farmers’ Almanac that it wouldn’t. The almanac was right.

Our little gray fox is undaunted.

Where would you recommend spending the New Year’s Eve ball drop?

The food: Apples. The choices: 1) Inside — it’s going to be a cold one. 2) Outside — it’ll be plenty mild. 3) Head for Florida — we’re talking blizzard.

The Farmers’ Almanac says: Inside. “Fair, cold.”

Stormy’s Furcast: Inside. The fox is going with the Farmer on this one.

Stormy’s Furcast is a winter-long series testing the weather predictions of the good-natured folks at the nearly-200-year-old Farmers’ Almanac against an equally good-natured fox who lives at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray. The almanac is based on science and secret formulas. The fox makes her pick choosing from three piles of food. Each week, a new question and the previous week’s results. May the best forecaster, or furcaster, win.
