Longfellow’s Restaurant

Rte. 27, Kingfield

207-265-4394

Longfellow’s was established in April 1980. It had been five restaurants previous to this date. The building is the original building which was constructed in the 1850s and “rolled” into its current location in the center of town at the intersection of Rt. 27 and Rt. 16. The Carrabassett River is the perfect backdrop for patrons dining in the River Room or on the outside deck during the summer months.

We have easy access and lots of parking for snowmobilers.

We have a post and beam rustic interior (all original). We seat up to 60 in our dining room. We have an additional, smaller dining room upstairs which is perfect for meetings, groups, and parties, that seats up to 50. We are open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We are very excited and proud of our son Christopher Doucette, who has recently come on board as head chef, and will take over the restaurant as we retire on Jan. 1, 2012. Chris comes from 15 years of cooking experience. He comes to us after eight years of experience at Tuffulio’s Restaurant in Carrabassett. Chris is in the process of updating our menu and has recently introduced his pan-seared tuna and bistro fillet that beats all others.

We have 13 employees. We are fortunate to have a very small turnover of staff. Two have been with us for most of the 30 years we’ve been established. People like seeing the familiar faces year after year. It’s part of the draw. We pride ourselves on our good food, good service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

We appreciate the help that the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce offers small businesses like Longfellow’s Restaurant. It gives us the exposure and marketing tools that we cannot afford to implement on our own. The Chamber helps to support and advertise numerous community festivals and the arts which directly affects us. Local businesses only have to be current members to take advantage of all the programs the Chamber has to offer. The Chamber Bucks program brings us new customers every year.
