PORTLAND – Bring your breakfast fare to the tailgate party, Leavitt and Mountain Valley football fans.
Saturday’s Class B championship will be the first game of the annual tripleheader at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
The Maine Principals’ Association announced Monday morning that the Hornets and Falcons will kick off the day at 11:06 a.m.
Cheverus and Bangor will meet in the Class A final at 2:30 p.m., followed by Yarmouth and Stearns in the Class C clash at 6 p.m.
All three state finals have been played at the same site since 2002.
Travel distances usually are the overriding factor in how the games are scheduled. Leavitt and Mountain Valley’s combined travel time of three hours makes the teams a more natural fit for the morning game than Bangor or Stearns of Millinocket.
A few details about Championship Saturday, courtesy of the MPA:
— Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $4 for students. One ticket entitles you to watch all three games, but if you leave the facility you will be required to pay for readmission.
— Fitzpatrick Stadium/City of Portland policy forbids backpacks, duffel bags, containers of any sort or drinks of any type in the stadium.
