FARMINGTON — A North Anson man was injured Thursday after his wheelchair rolled down an embankment into a ditch, police officer Michael Adcock said.
Edmund Duguay, 55, had gotten out of a vehicle on Industry Road to help his wife, Darcia Duguay, 50, try to figure out what was wrong with their vehicle, Adcock said.
The couple had been heading to a doctor’s appointment when the vehicle had a problem.
The passenger door was about 3 feet from the side of the road.
The wheelchair rolled down a 3- to 4-foot embankment, Adcock said.
Edmund Duguay received a leg injury, he said.
“Farmington Fire Department did an excellent job keeping the patient still before a NorthStar ambulance arrived,” Adcock said.
Once Duguay was put on a backboard, he was lifted out of the ditch to the road by emergency responders, he said.
Duguay was still in Franklin Memorial Hospital Emergency Department late Thursday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
