LIVERMORE FALLS — A local woman was charged after police received a complaint that she pushed a witness connected to a dog-mauling case, Lt. Thomas Gould said.
Jessica L. Harvey, 22, of Livermore Falls was arrested on a felony charge of tampering with a witness on Friday, Gould said. She was released on $260 cash bail from the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn, he said.
According to Sgt. Joseph Sage, he received a complaint that Harvey pushed a female and threatened her not to testify in an upcoming dog-mauling case, Gould said.
Harvey is scheduled to appear on Nov. 10 in Lewiston District Court.
According to police, Harvey is a friend of Martin Vining of Livermore Falls whose dog Hooch is accused of killing Jack, a Jack Russell terrier, in July on Park Street, near Vining’s residence.
Vining, 41, pleaded not guilty in August to civil charges of having a dangerous dog, having an unlicensed dog and having a dog at large in 8th District Court in Lewiston.
A Nov. 16 trial date was set.
Jack was out for a walk on a leash with owner Bethany Miller’s children when the attack occurred, police said.
Hooch, a bull mastiff-mastiff-Rottweiler mix, also had attacked a mail carrier in 2007, police previously said. Vining was charged with having a dangerous dog.
