LEWISTON — The Stanton Bird Club of Lewiston and Auburn has released its March events. Meetings and field trips are free and open to everyone.
The club will hold its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 4, in room 285 at the USM Lewiston – Auburn College, 55 Westminster St., Lewiston. The speaker will be Don Hudson, renowned Naturalist-Conservationist.
A birding field trip is planned for Saturday March 23, to Plum Island, Massachusetts. Meet at 8 a.m. at the Promenade Mall, 855 Lisbon St., Lewiston. Meet at the end of the parking lot by Staples across from Marquis Signs. Carpooling will be arranged. Participants may also meet at the parking lot on Plum Island at 9:30 a.m. Be sure to dress warmly and bring a lunch. The trip is planned to return to Lewiston about 4 p.m. The day’s explorations will be led by Steve Reed. For any questions, call him at 207-319-6630.
The Stanton Bird Club manages the Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary as well as the Woodbury Nature Sanctuary in Monmouth and Litchfield. It is an environmental organization which seeks to inculcate a love of nature in people of our community and also seeks to create model bird sanctuaries.
