LEWISTON — Celtic music will be in the air at this week’s Oasis of Music, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Church.
The featured performers, the Montsweagers, are a Celtic ensemble comprised of some dozen musicians from the mid-coastal area of Maine who also are really good friends, love to entertain the public at festivals, farmers markets and other celebrations of life here in Maine.
They embrace their roots in the sometimes carefree and sometimes soulful tunes of the Irish, Scottish and Quebecois and enjoy sharing these traditions with residents and visitors to our state alike. They are also known to surprise listeners with the occasional jazz tune as well.
Mark Fuller, a percussionist in the group, describes their presentation: “It’s like a Saturday night bean supper, a feel-good reminder of our humanity and a refreshing break from our daily endeavors.”
The Oasis of Music invites the public every Wednesday, September through May, to a free performance. Donations are always accepted. For more information call 207-344-3106.
