Members of the Auburn Art Club met recently at the home of Mrs. H.B. Williams, Whitney St., and was assisted by Mrs. A.D. Williams. The program was devoted to Russia. The geography was given by Miss Annie Prescott, “The Life of the Women of Russia” was described by Miss Bradbury, “Russian Music” was the topic of Mrs. Henry Oakes, which was interspersed with solos of Russian artists by Miss Ruth Williams and Miss Erma Paul. Miss Marston read “The Life of the Former Czarina.”
50 years ago: 1969
Auburn city officials will tour the Lake Auburn Towne House, housing for the elderly, Saturday afternoon. Auburn Housing Authority director Harry W. Woodhead and Mayor Clyde Goudy and city councilors have been invited to accompany the AHA on the tour.
25 years ago: 1994
School Administrative District 43 board of directors will meet in Mexico at 6 p.m. Monday at the superintendent’s building board room to consider establishing a new varsity sport. The directors will vote to approve the establishment of an interscholastic varsity golf team at Mountain Valley High School for fall 1994. However, the board will not have to set aside funds for the new program. All program costs will be raised by parents and citizens for the district’s budget.
