AUBURN — Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St., offers the following book discussion groups:

Auburn Page Turners is an informal group meeting the first Monday of the month at 12:30 p.m. The next meeting is Feb. 4 and “Future Home of the Living God” by Louise Erdrich will be discussed.

A Look Back Historical Fiction Book Group is a new group about old times. In recognition of Auburn’s 150th Anniversary, books about Maine and New England history will be read. The group meets the last Friday of the month at noon. The next meeting is Feb. 22 and “Caleb’s Crossing” by Geraldine Brooks will be discussed.

Health and Wellness Book Club is a forum to discuss practical information about integrating healthy habits through books, videos, articles, conversation and practice. It meets Mondays from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Speak Your Mind is for those who want to talk about things that matter. Those who have an interest in social issues can combine that with some reading. On Monday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m. a book on gun violence, “Another Day in the Death of America” by Gray Younge, will be discussed.

Special Topics — From time to time, the library hosts book discussions on special topics. This year, they will host a book discussion in cooperation with the Camden Conference: “Is this China’s Century?”

On Feb. 7 at noon, Joseph W. McDonnell, a professor of public policy and management at the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine, will be at the library for a talk on U.S. policy toward the rising global power of China.
