Rangeley Fat Bike Loppet

RANGELEY — The fourth annual Rangeley Fat Bike Loppet will be held Sunday, Jan. 27, at Rangeley Lakes Trails Center, 524 Saddleback Mountain Road.

Registration is at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 10. Classes include 10- and 20-mile nordic groomed, 10- and 20p-mile single track mix, and a 10-mile nordic untimed tour. Courses may change due to snow conditions.

Galentine’s Day delivery fundraiser

LEWISTON — The YWCA Central Maine invites women to celebrate Galentine’s Day by sending a Galentine to other women and girls who are important in their lives. 

On Wednesday, Feb. 13, the official date of Galentine’s Day date, YWCA staff (who may or may not be dressed like Cupid) will personally deliver baskets of treats and well-wishes to women in Lewiston and Auburn. Galentine’s baskets may include chocolate, soaps, flowers, gift cards and personalized messages.

Orders will be accepted until 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7. The Galentine’s Day delivery service is a fundraiser to benefit the work of the YWCA.

Skeet shooting at fish and game 

WATERFORD — Recreational skeet shooting is held at 1 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. Thursdays at the Waterford Fish & Game Association, Route 118.

The public is welcome and should bring a shotgun and ammo. The cost is $3 a round of 25 targets.

Senior fellowship group to meet Thursdays  

LOVELL — The Gathering Place, a senior fellowship group, meets Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lovell United Church of Christ, 1174 Main St.

Meetings are free and open to any senior who wishes to drop in. Folks attending the meetings should bring their own lunch. Coffee, tea and snacks are provided. A hot meal is provided on the first Thursday of each month.

Chair yoga is offered on the third Thursday of the month. This is a time for fellowship, games, art and special events. For more information, call the church office at 207-925-1321.

Rumford Senior Center Nickel Bingo

PERU — The Rumford Senior Center is open for sign-ups or other business from 9 to 11 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Nickel Bingo is played at the center every Tuesday and Thursday at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Four Chaplains rememberance ceremony

NORWAY — A Four Chaplains remembrance ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 32 Paris St. Refreshments will follow.

The ceremony is sponsored by the American Legion Family Norway Post 82.

Singing Valentines fundraiser

AUGUSTA — The Mainly-Harmony women’s barbershop chorus will have quartets ready to travel and deliver songs and long-stemmed roses to people’s loved ones on Thursday, Feb. 14. 

The cost for a singing Valentine is $25. Deadline to order is Feb. 12. This fundraiser assists the chorus in bringing year-long entertainment to Maine community organizations.
