OLD TOWN – A 24-year-old University of Maine student was struck and killed by a vehicle in Old Town Thursday.
Old Town police say crews responded to a report that a man had been hit by a truck with a plow around 5:15 p.m. Dylan Cooper of Old Town was pronounced dead at the scene.
News Center Maine (WCSH/WLBZ) reported that the driver, 54-year-old Eric Gifford of Bradley, was turning onto Stillwater Avenue near Bennoch Road when his truck hit Cooper as the younger man crossed the street.
The Maine Campus, the university’s student newspaper, reported that Cooper was a junior at the University of Maine.
