LIVERMORE FALLS — Visitors will be taking a trip back in time at History Night in Livermore Falls on Friday from 4-8 p.m.

“A lot of people look forward to it, from kids to older people,” said History Night co-founder Kenny Jacques. “It’s kind of like a rite of spring around here.”

Starting in 2005, History Night has been an opportunity to showcase Livermore Falls’ downtown. Jacques and the late Dennis Stires were responsible for founding and coordinating the event during its early years.

This year, businesses will be open for visitors to shop, said Jay, Livermore, Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce (JLLFCOC) administrator Christine Fournier, who is organizing the event.

Jason Gibbs will provide tractor rides around town for people. Antique cars will be parked around town, and Area Youth Sports will have a food truck.

Matt & The Barnburners will play at the Lamb Block on Depot Street. This five-piece rock and blues band, comprised of local musicians, was recently chosen as the top blues band in Maine.

The JLLFCOC will have area guides for distribution at a display. Fournier said that business cards will be available with the names of businesses in town. She said as people visit these businesses, they can obtain a stamp unique to that business and then return it to the chamber table to be entered into a gift basket raffle.

Maine’s Paper & Heritage Museum, on Church Street, will be open from 12-8 p.m. for visitors to take a tour. There will be a garage sale, and people can also partake in chili being served.

Paper museum president Sherry Judd said donations are welcomed. The museum is trying to raise money for a wheelchair ramp, and for repairs to a leaking foundation.

“I think it’s a fun get together, a fun night to explore downtown Livermore Falls,” said Fournier.

There is no rain date. For more information, contact Fournier at 500-2464.
