Presidential Inaugural poet and author Richard Blanco will have a ski trail dedicated in his honor on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Mt. Abram Ski Area. The trail will be named after the poem Mr. Blanco wrote for President Obama’s inauguration, entitled “One Today.” The ribbon cutting ceremony for the trail will take place at the top of the mountain at 3 p.m.
“It’s an honor to dedicate a trail to Richard for the positive impact and contributions he has made to our community here in the greater Bethel area,” said Rob Lally, Mt. Abram’s owner.
Following the inaugural run down the slope, Richard will be available to sign his latest book, “For All Of Us, One Today” in the lodge. Copies of his book will be available for purchase. The celebration will continue with DJ Deepshine in the Loose Boots Lounge, starting at 7 p.m.
Richard’s friends and fans are invited to the celebration. Those wishing to view the ribbon cutting will meet at the bottom of the “Way Back Machine” chairlift at 2:30 p.m. for a ride to the trail at the top of the mountain.
