AUBURN — The Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Club will meet for breakfast and a presentation at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the United Church of Christ, 439 Park Ave. The topic is ReVision Energy.
ReVision Energy focuses on using renewable energy, talks with homeowners about reducing their dependence on fossil fuels and consider benefits of solar energy.
Cost for breakfast is $15.
Osteoporosis program at CMMC
LEWISTON — A free public program, “Fit to a T Bone Health & Osteoporosis,” will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Central Maine Medical Center Conference Center, 12 High St.
The program will address fracture prevention, bone health and osteoporosis. The goal of the program is to educate men and women on the steps to assess their risk for fracture and osteoporosis, and how to prevent bone loss and a fragility fracture — particularly secondary fractures. The prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis will also be covered.

Pinback button-making program
FREEPORT — There will be a pinback button-making workshop from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the Freeport Community Library.
People can make 1-inch or 2¼-inch buttons. The library will provide button-makers, colored pencils, crayons, markers and coloring book pages available to copy. People are encouraged to bring supplemental materials to fuel creativity. This program is open to all ages and no preregistration is required.

Socrates Cafe to meet, have discussion
BRIDGTON — The Socrates Cafe will meet from 6:15 to 8:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at the Bridgton Community Center.
The meeting will begin with a meet and greet. Discussion will follow. The topic is “The Mind/Body/Soul Connection,” moderated by Jim Kearney. Light refreshments provided.

18th annual Chocolate Bash
FREEPORT — The 18th annual Chocolate Bash will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Freeport Community Library.
Indulge in a plate heavy with handmade treats. Raffle tickets will be sold for a chocolate dessert basket and treat bags, as well as an art basket produced and assembled by the Art Guild of Freeport. Live music will be provided by Cul de Sax.
Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Chocolate tasting plates are priced at $2. All proceeds go directly to the library. The event is open to the public.

Recovery advocate will speak to rotary
AUBURN — Guest speaker Jesse Harvey will address the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club on Thursday, Jan. 24.
The program is from noon to 1 p.m. at the Village Inn, 165 High St.
Jesse Harvey is a recovery advocate interested in building more recovery-ready communities. Drug use, trauma, incarceration and isolation brought Jesse to a profoundly dark place. After experiencing drug poisoning and trying to take his life several times, Harvey was involuntarily committed by a judge, for the fifth time, into treatment.
In 2015, Harvey was discharged to a Portland recovery house to start rebuilding his life. Today he has been in recovery for over three years and is studying to get his master’s degree in policy, planning and management. He is the founder of Journey House Recovery, an organization that offers recovery housing at five locations in Maine.
He works full time as the peer support coordinator for Greater Portland Health. He is co-chairman of the Recovery Taskforce of the Portland Rotary and serves on numerous boards and committees throughout the state.
Observe the Stars program
NORWAY — Observe the Stars, a night to view the Winter Hexagon, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, or Saturday, Feb. 2, depending on cloud cover.
It is free and open to the public.
Observers will be able to view Orion and Orion nebula, the Andromeda galaxy, Mars and other celestial bodies.

Indoor Farmer’s Market at library
AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library will hold its annual Indoor Farmer’s Market family event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the library at 49 Spring St.
It will feature live music, a special children’s program, lots of vendors and some surprise barnyard guests. The vendors will serve homegrown and homemade food and treats, plus homestead crafts such as pottery.
