LEWISTON — Sam Frechette scored in each period to finish with four goals as the L/A Nordiques overcame a 3-1 deficit in the first period and then cruised to a 12-4 victory over the Long Beach Sharks on Saturday at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
Samuel Willis and Eric Immel both scored less than three minutes into the game to put the Sharks up 2-0. Joe Bisson and Immel traded goals before Bisson scored his second to make it 3-2 with six minutes remaining in the period. Sam Frechette then scored two of his four goals before the end of the first period.
After outshooting the Sharks 22-7 in the first period, the Nordiques continued their hot start by holding a 33-7 shot advantage the rest of the way.
JP Chauvin, Valerie Rykov and Frechette all scored in the second period to offset Willis’ goal to go up 7-4 after two.
Rykov and Frechette started the third period the same way they ended the second, by scoring back-to-back goals. L/A then received goals from Crewz Berry, Joshua Malone and Trent Sheldon to finish the win.
L/A goalkeeper Jason St. Pierre made eight saves, and Daniel Miller made two more. Sharks’ goalkeeper Ryan Cortez stopped 43 shots.
