Boomerang Bags program offered
MECHANIC FALLS — The public library will offer a program to make “Boomerang Bags” at the Town Office, 108 Lewiston St., at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, in the Council Room. Boomerang Bags is a grassroots, community-driven movement tackling plastic pollution at its source.
Volunteers from all walks of life get together to make these re-useable bags using recycled materials, as a means to provide a sustainable alternative to plastic bags. The bags are given away to friends, family, colleagues, bagless strangers and so on, as a plastic bag alternative that can be used and reused, or passed on to others in need.
Space is limited to 20 people, so call to register as soon as possible. Working sewing machines are required, patterns and material will be provided.
To register call Nancy Petersons at the library at 207-345-9450 or email mechanicfallslibrary@gmail.com.
