LEWISTON — The Rev. Anthony F. Kuzia has been named temporary administrator of the Prince of Peace Parish in Lewiston, Holy Trinity Parish in Lisbon Falls and Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Sabattus, replacing for now the Rev. Timothy J. Nadeau, who has been out on medical leave since October.

The Prince of Peace Parish includes the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Holy Cross Church and Holy Family Church. Our Lady of the Rosary Parish also includes St. Francis Church in Greene.

Bishop Robert Deeley announced the assignment Wednesday. It is effective Jan. 9.

A spokesman for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland declined to provide more information about Nadeau’s health, citing privacy laws. He said he had no return date for Nadeau yet.

The Rev. Matthew J. Gregory had been serving as temporary administrator of the three parishes since Nadeau left in October. With Kuzia taking over, Gregory will now resume his previous assignment as parochial vicar of the three parishes.

Nadeau was appointed pastor of the Prince of Peace Parish in 2016. He added Holy Trinity and Our Lady of the Rosary parishes in 2017.

Nadeau was no stranger to Lewiston’s Catholic churches. Ordained in 1991, his first assignment was as a parochial vicar at Holy Family Parish in Lewiston. He later served parishes on Indian Island and in Orono, Bradley, Sanford, Springvale and Bangor.

The Diocese also announced Wednesday that the Rev. Johnson Sacreties PanneerSelvam has been appointed parochial vicar of the Prince of Peace, Holy Trinity and Our Lady of the Rosary parishes.

The Rev. Anthony Kanagaraj Chinnaiyan, who had been serving as parochial vicar of the three area parishes, has been appointed parochial vicar of the Bangor area’s St. Paul the Apostle Parish.

The Rev. Nehru Stephen Savayaria, who had been on temporary assignment as parochial vicar at Prince of Peace Parish, will resume his assignment as parochial vicar of Parish of the Precious Blood in the Caribou area.
