BANGOR — The Penobscot Theatre Co. Dramatic Academy is excited to announce open registration for the upcoming after school youth production of “Anne Of Green Gables.”
Dan Hanchrow, assistant director for “A Wrinkle In Time” and fall instructor for Young Adult Performance Conservatory, returns to helm this production as the director. Overseeing the production will be incoming interim director of education, Ben Layman, a veteran teaching artist at Dramatic Academy as well as a frequent actor on the Penobscot Theatre’s main stage.
The stage adaptation of L.M. Montgomery’s classic tale tells the story of the indomitable, imaginative, red-haired heroine, Anne Shirley. All the tragedies and triumphs that mark Anne’s growth from adolescence to early adulthood are here: her friendship with Diana, her feuds with Gilbert, her adoration of Matthew, the cake disaster, and the saving of Green Gables.
Rehearsals are every Tuesday and Thursday, starting Tuesday, Jan. 8. Tiny Thespians, ages 4-6, rehearse from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The Youth Troupe rehearses from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Registration is $300 for Tiny Thespians and $500 for Youth Troupe. All rehearsals will be held at the newly renovated Dramatic Academy Rehearsal space at 51A Main St. Performances will be held March 22-24 at the Bangor Opera House.
