This week we offer two poems by Anne Wyman Holmes of Nobleboro.
FOG
By Anne Wyman Holmes
Old man cloud
wanders in between the islands,
Licking the ledges,
skimming the water,
Veiling the black trees and rocks.
He leaves a space
for dancing sunlight,
Fades to gauze,
swirls slowly,
Then wanders out again.
Water
By Anne Wyman Holmes
My kayak cuts a wavering line
through glass,
Dyed green by life and the reflections
of the trees,
Diamond-studded by the sun.
No monarch’s crown can match a small boat’s wake.
