OLD TOWN – The city council is expected to decide at an upcoming meeting whether it will change its meeting times to 6 p.m.

Currently the council meets at 7 p.m. – a time that was used for many years to allow folks time to have dinner before attending council meetings. In recent years, however, only a handful of people typically have attended the meetings; some of that may is most likely due to the meetings now being air repeatedly on the local cable access channel, and lesser interest in the working of city government on the part of the public may be a factor as well. With a 6 p.m. start, councilors could get home earlier.

Committee meetings would likely be moved to 6 p.m. as well if regular meetings are changed.
