Groups to hold transportation meeting

WEST PARIS — MaineDOT, Western Maine Transportation Services, Community Concepts and the Bethel Region Age-Friendly Community Initiative (AFCI) will be co-hosting a regional Public Transit Forum to allow western Maine residents to help develop improved transportation opportunities for the region. The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the West Parish Congregational Church at 32 Church St.

The meeting is designed to identify/confirm needs, explore and prioritize solutions, gather feedback on draft long range priorities for MaineDOT, and allow folks to move into action together going forward. The public is invited and light refreshments will be provided.

Bethel-area seniors over 60 who need a ride to the forum can call the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Transportation Coordinator at 207-824-4444.

OCEA-R to have last meeting

LOCKE MILLS — The last meeting of Oxford County Educators Association-Retired (OCEA-R) will be held at the American Legion Hall on Friday, Nov. 16.

Sign-ins will be at 10:30 a.m., meeting at approximately 11 a.m., followed by a meal served by the Legion Auxiliary and a silent Christmas auction. The annual scholarship calendar raffle winners will be chosen while the meeting is in progress.

The money from sales of raffle tickets must be turned in at the beginning of the meeting.

Church to hold pie contest

DIXFIELD — A pie contest will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Dixfield Congregational Church on High Street.

There is no fee to enter the contest. Contestants may enter up to three pies that must be delivered to the church annex between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday. Pie judging will take place after 1 p.m. Winners will be announced Sunday, Nov. 18, during coffee hour after the 10 a.m. worship service. If not in attendance, the winners will be notified by phone. Gift cards will be given as prizes.

Church holds annual Christmas toy sale

NEW PORTLAND — The New Portland Community Church, 94 River Road, will hold their annual Christmas Toy Sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 24, and Saturday, Dec. 1.

All toys are new from a “Santa” who lives in a far-a-way place. He will have a bag full of many different kinds of toys.
