Volunteers wanted for food packing event
FARMINGTON — The SCC and Greater Farmington Food Council is looking for volunteers to help with the upcoming event, “Feed 10K for Western Maine,” being held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 (could finish closer to 1 p.m.).
The Council is asking volunteers to show up at 8 a.m. to help set up and get trained before the packing events. They will be packing meals in UMF’s North Dining Hall.
Food pantry turkey basket giveaway
BETHEL — The Bethel Food Pantry will give away 50 Turkey Baskets to residents of the communities it serves: Bethel, West Bethel, Gilead, Albany, Stoneham, Newry, Andover, Hanover, Milton Township, Locke Mills, Bryant Pond, Woodstock and Greenwood, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18.

Club to discuss youth fiction book
PARIS — The library’s Novel Idea Book Club will discuss “Pax,” a juvenile fiction selection, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20. This book is authored by Sara Pennypacker and illustrated by John Klassen.
New members are welcome. Light refreshments will be available.

Christmas ormnament and cookie making event
BETHEL — The West Parish Congregational Church will be hosting a Christmas Ornament and Cookie Making event from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10.
This event is open to folks of all ages, with or without children. Children are also welcome to stay without their parents. They will be making Christmas ornaments to sell at the church’s Christmas Tea and Fair in December, and participants will be welcome to take an ornament home as well. We will also be making cookies and freezing them for the Cookie Walk at the fair, but attendees will be welcome to sample the cookies themselves. There is no charge for this event.

Veterans Day brunch, recruitment
