FARMINGTON — A Jay woman and a New York man accused of selling heroin and crack cocaine in July from a Jay residence were indicted Wednesday on drug charges.
Angie Braley, 37, of 132 Main St., Apt. 2, Jay, and Darnell Smith, 20, of 212 West Fordham Road 2, Bronx, New York, were indicted by a Franklin County grand jury on two felony counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs: heroin and cocaine.
Braley was also indicted on a misdemeanor charge of violation of condition of release.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Jay Police Department, assisted by other departments, executed a search warrant on July 30 at an apartment at 446 Main St. in Jay.
Police said they found 121.2 grams of what they suspected was heroin and 85.2 grams of what they suspected was crack cocaine, according to a drug agent’s affidavit.
The street value of the drugs is $45,000, according to police.
Agents also seized other items related to drug trafficking, including a digital scale, according to the affidavit.
Jay police and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency received information July 29 that drugs were being sold out of the apartment, and following an investigation made the arrests.
A conviction on each drug charge carries a penalty of up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
A conviction on a bail violation is punishable by up to 364 days in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.
