HALLOWELL — The Harlow, in partnership with the Capital Area New Mainers Project, invites artists to submit work to be considered for “A Nation of Immigrants: Home Lost, Home Found,” an art exhibition planned for Nov. 2-24, on the theme of immigration. The deadline for email submissions is 11:59 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1.

This is a raw and fraught time in the world as we struggle to respond to the fact that 65 million people have been displaced from their homes. What is the experience of those newly arrived and those who may have come long ago? What is has been gained, what has been lost? What does it mean to be a “Nation of Immigrants?”

All media welcome, all ages, all experience levels. Submission are welcome from new Mainers and from those who arrived in previous generations. A series of workshops is planned at the gallery for those interested in a space, materials and guidance to produce work in the months leading up to the show. Artists may submit up to four pieces via email. New Mainers who need assistance can contact CANMP volunteer Brad Kraft at bradford.kraft@maine.edu or by phone at 770-558-5120.

Entries will be reviewed and selected by a curatorial committee comprised of volunteers from CANMP and Harlow staff.
