LEWISTON – The Edward Little High School Homecoming Parade, which will serve as a revival of the Lewiston-EL Football Parade, will begin at 10 a.m. today.
Parade participants will stage starting at 8:30 a.m. on both sides of the Longley Bridge, and the parade will step off from the Longley Bridge at 10 a.m. toward Lewiston High School for a 1 p.m. start of the schools’ football game.
The parade route is from the Longley Bridge up Main Street to Sabattus Street, turning right on Webster Street and right on East Avenue to the high school.
Throughout the morning motorists can expect streets intersecting with the parade route will be blocked off, and drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes.
Main Street will be reduced to southbound traffic from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., with a brief 15-minute closure of all traffic while the parade crosses the bridge. Main Street will be reopened once the parade has turned onto Sabattus Street.
Sabattus Street, from Main to Central/Ash/Webster, and Webster Street from Sabattus to East Avenue will be closed from 8:30 a.m. until the parade passes through. East Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Webster and Malo streets during the parade, and reopened once the parade turns into the high school lot.
No parking signs will be posted along Main, Sabattus and Webster streets. Vehicles parked in those areas between 7 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. will be subject to towing.
