LEWISTON – Lewiston-Auburn College will host a debate on the presidential candidates from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in the college’s upstairs lounge. The forum, titled “Democrats, Republicans and the People: A Bipartisan Debate,” will be open to the public.
The Democratic presenter will be Maine Attorney General Steven Rowe. The Republican presenter will be former Lewiston state Rep. Stavros Mendros. Professor Michelle Vazquez Jacobus will be the moderator.
Topics to be debated will be the purview of the federal courts, health care access for low-income individuals, weapons control, primary public education, reproductive rights, environmental regulations and the USA Patriot Act.
The intent of the event is to illuminate issues important to community members.
