AUBURN – Central Maine Community College will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, on the campus. There is no charge.
Faculty members and students services staff will be on hand to provide information on financial aid, the admissions process, options for transferring to four-year colleges and to give tours. There will also be refreshments and door prizes.
The college offers more than 30 career or technical programs, including the associate in applied science in human services. The human services program will prepare its graduates to work with families or individuals, in settings such as community mental health centers and programs, programs for the elderly, social service agencies and hospitals. Courses toward the degree will begin in the spring 2005 semester and students can enroll in either the spring or fall.
Applications will also be accepted for the machine tool technology program starting in the fall. The program recently received certification from the National Institute of Metalworking Skills. Graduates find work in large and small manufacturing and machining companies.
“Both the human services and machine tool technology programs, along with many of our other offerings, are available for students whether they want to attend part-time or full-time,” said Elizabeth Oken, admissions director. “Our goal is to work with students to help them pursue a course of study in a way that is realistic for them.”
The college can provide financial aid and other student assistance. Students may participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including athletics. Housing is available on campus.
