LEWISTON — God has taken another soul into his kingdom. May he guide her and love her for all of eternity. Mrs. Marie Anna Blondin, 104, of Lewiston died Wednesday, Aug. 15.
Marie was born on May 6, 1914, in Canada. Her parents were Marie Anna Landry and Emile Landry. Marie had 17 siblings, two of whom still live in Canada. Marie attended school in Canada. Being the eldest of 18 children, Marie was needed at home and was only able to attend school up to the fifth grade. In September of 1934 at the age of 20, Marie married Robert Blondin in Kamouraska, Canada. He died May 17, 1961. Marie had five children: Therese, Gerard, Rita, Maurice and Cecile. Marie had 10 grandchildren: Michael, Richard, Tony, Allen, John, James, Corinna, Susan, Christine and Steven. She has five step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very proud to say that there are five generations in all. Marie enjoyed being a homemaker while her children were growing up. She was also a landlord for 20 years. After the passing of her husband, she spent many years traveling all over the world. Marie even visited the Vatican and while there she received a blessing from the pope. Even at her advanced age, Marie still enjoyed attending socials and musical programs. She also attended weekly Catholic services.
She is survived by her three daughters, Rita (Robert) Laflamme, Cecile (Bernard) Roberts and Therese R. Plourde; two sons, Maurice (Jacqueline) Blondin and Gerard (Dolores) Blondin; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Camille and Raymond Landry of Canada.
