LEWISTON — Museum L-A invites community members to bring a photo in memory of a professional musician whom they would like to be remembered at the museum’s Dance Party Under the Stars II. The memorial photos of the musicians will be on display at the party on the exterior fence where guests enter to enjoy the festivities or to cross the footbridge.

The party will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7. The museum’s future home located on the shores of Androscoggin River near Simard Payne Park and the footbridge that spans the river to Bonney Park in Auburn will be the venue for our Party celebration.

In the 1940s and 1950s, Lewiston-Auburn had the highest number of musicians per capita of population in the U.S. 

The event will rock with the music of the locally renowned Good & Plenty band with the sounds of the 1970s and 1980s.

“The Dance Party is a wonderful opportunity to remember the musicians who have passed over the years and who have played a major role in shaping our community with their musical talents,” says Rachel Desgrosseilliers, Executive Director. “We want to bring back the fond memories of past musicians while hosting a spectacular night along the river for the people of Lewiston-Auburn.”

Museum L-A will be accepting photographs of past musicians from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 to 3 p.m. Saturdays through Aug. 24 in the museum’s current location in the Bates Mill Complex at 35 Canal St.
